Position Title Secondary School Credit International Languages Teacher & Occasional Teacher – Spanish Language

Program Description All language credit courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). St. Louis offers up to 3 credits in each language and requires 110 hours of instruction to earn a credit.
Responsibilities Deliver the secondary school International Language curriculum in an in‑person classroom.
Develop course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages Gr. 9‑12; ensure proper planning and follow‑up for the academic progress of all students.
Utilize technology in delivering course content.
Engage students in communicative, real‑life, task‑based language activities emphasizing oral, reading, and writing strands.
Identify students’ learning needs and use instructional strategies (small group, individual, whole class, cooperative learning).
Evaluate student progress and discuss results with students and parents.
Create annual reports of student performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvement.
Ensure a safe academic environment conducive to learning in class and online.




Promote positive attitudes toward language learning and encourage enthusiasm.
Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor‑training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities.
Minimum Requirements Must hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (or other acceptable teaching credentials).
Must be fluent (reading, writing, and speaking) in the language taught.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Must be available for in‑person classes.
Desirable Assets Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language.
Evidence of instructing in the credit language.
Certification in language instruction from an accredited college or university.
Hours of Work Wednesdays, 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm (3.5 hours per week)
Pay $56.80 /hour for OC‑certified Teacher
$50.36 /hour for Existing Uncertified (grandfathered)
$46.83 /hour + statutory & vacation pay for Current Uncertified
$49.07 /hour for Occasional Teacher
Not Required to Be Catholic Applicants to St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education are not required to be Catholic.
Additional Requirements Must provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screening Record Check upon hire.
