Senior Business Systems Analyst - Banking, Gen AI, Postman, API and data integration

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 4 Days/Week Onsite)

Duration: 6-12 Months (Contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join a leading banking client in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in business analysis, requirements engineering, API and data integration, Agile delivery, and stakeholder management. Experience with GenAI technologies and banking platforms is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Elicit, analyze, document, and prioritize business and functional requirements through workshops, interviews, and process analysis.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, process flows, use cases, swim lane diagrams, and system documentation.
- Create and manage user stories in Jira and maintain project documentation in Confluence.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, architects, QA teams, and vendors to deliver high‑quality solutions.
- Support Agile/Scrum and Waterfall project delivery while ensuring SDLC compliance.
- Analyze APIs, data flows, and system integrations to support enterprise initiatives.
- Document business rules, data transformations, and downstream data processing logic.
- Produce API inventories, data lineage documentation, authentication assessments, and workflow documentation.
- Mentor junior Business Systems Analysts and promote best practices across project teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.

Required Skills & Experience

Business Analysis

- Extensive experience in Requirements Engineering and business process analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall delivery methodologies.

Hands-on experience with:

- Jira




- Confluence
- User Story creation
- SDLC documentation
- Expertise in system analysis, process mapping, use cases, and functional specifications.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

API & Data Integration

- Experience with API discovery, documentation, and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of:
- REST APIs
- SOAP
- GraphQL

- Knowledge of enterprise data flow architectures including:

- Batch processing
- ETL
- Real-time streaming

- Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and data lineage.

Business Rules & Data Analysis

- Analyze and document:
- Business rules
- Data transformationsDownstream system integrations

- Experience documenting recommendation workflows such as fee reversal or decision logic.

Security & Authentication

- Working knowledge of:
- OAuth
- JWT
- API Keys
- API authentication and authorization concepts

Technical Tools

- Hands-on experience with:
- SQL
- Postman
- Swagger / OpenAPI
- Data modeling tools
- Snowflake or Teradata
- API Gateway technologies

GenAI & Emerging Technologies

- Experience or familiarity with:
- Generative AI platforms such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Cohere
- Responsible and ethical AI governance
- Banking use cases including chatbots, document automation, and intelligent recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

- Banking or Financial Services experience
- Business Process Modeling (BPMN)
- Omnichannel messaging and voice platforms
- Customer support bots and IVR platforms
- Process optimization and workflow automation experience
