Job Summary

The incumbentis responsible forleadingthe operations of an assigned territory that involves track inspection and repairs. The role overseesreplacing rails, ties, switches, and ballasts. In addition, thepositionprovides daily support to the Track Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities

- Leadengineering operations as outlined in CN’s operating plan
- Supervise andleadactivities of track gangs,trackemployees, and hi-railoperations
- Handleengineering operations which include compliance with protected work procedures,Transport Canadaguidelines, and CN standards,policies,and regulations
- Lead people with clear direction and goals while providing coaching and guidance to employees through regular performance monitoring
- Apply collective agreement and company policies by conducting investigations, recommending corrective actions, and responding to grievances
- Overseebudgets and workforce productivity within CN policies and the Five Guiding Principles
- Ensure explicit communication of track condition and daily production information to senior managementin order toadjust
- Ensurethe safety of the track through regulatory inspectionsand input findings into theTrack Inspection System(TIS)tomonitortrack condition
- Follow up on reported track issues to ensure theymaintaincompliance with standards
- Participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service,



while working with Transportation and Mechanical toestablishcause and future prevention
- Perform safety audits for the unionized workforce and conduct safety engagements
- Plan,scheduleand perform track repairs and maintenance
- Respond to emergencies

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible toparticipatein CN’s hybrid work model.The role requiresregular travel (up to 50%)acrosstheir assigned territoryat times without advance notice. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handlepressureand stress. The position requires responding tounexpectedandemergency situations,and being able tolift upto 70 lbs.

Requirements

Experience

Safety Compliance

- Between 3 to 5 years of experience in safety compliance
- Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
- Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or in a regulatory or safety environment*
- Budget management experience*
- Labour Relations experience (i.e.,interpretationof collectiveagreements,responsetogrievances,negotiationswithunionrepresentatives, discipline,etc.)*
- Experience supervising a unionized workforce*

Education/Certification/Designation

- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Bachelor’s Degree*
- ValidDriver’sLicence
- Certifiedin Railroad Operating Signals*
