Hyfluence builds specialized hydrogen refueling infrastructure for industrial vehicle applications — precision equipment that matters. We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Shop Foreman to join our growing manufacturing team. This is primarily a working technician role — you'll spend most of your time on the floor building and testing our industrial hydrogen refueling equipment alongside the team. In addition to your technical contributions, you'll take ownership of day‑to‑day team coordination, quality consistency, and shop readiness, working closely with our project management office to keep production moving and aligned to plan. Our team is small, skilled and growing, which means this role carries real influence.
This role is well suited to an experienced mechanical technician who is wants to continue building their leadership experience without leaving their craft behind. Duties and Responsibilities
Technical (Primary)
Assembling high-pressure tubing and specialized electro‑mechanical process control components, including valves and fittings
Fabricating brackets, stands and other custom‑designed metal components
Safely conducting pressure and leak testing of completed assemblies
Testing supplied components for quality and conformance
Completing production records including inspection test reports and material traceability logs
Preparing finished equipment for shipment
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Supervisory and Coordination
Coordinating day‑to‑day work assignments across the production team, aligned with manufacturing plans and priorities set by the project management office
Monitoring production progress and proactively addressing obstacles,
bottlenecks or technical issues to keep builds on schedule
Ensuring consistency and quality across all manufacturing processes, reinforcing standards and best practices on the floor
Maintaining the readiness of tools, equipment and the shop facility, including coordinating preventive maintenance and managing shop supplies
Supporting onboarding and practical skills development of technicians as the team grows
Serving as the primary point of escalation for day‑to‑day technical and operational issues on the floor
Skills And Experience — Required
Post‑secondary technical education
Strong mechanical assembly experience (pressure systems, piping, skids in a manufacturing or industrial assembly environment, with a track record of quality and reliability
Demonstrated ability to read mechanical engineering drawings including process and instrumentation drawings.
Basic electrical awareness (panels, instrumentation, safe handling)
Prior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity — formal or informal
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable giving direction and coordinating a small team
Strong attention to process, detail and production documentation
Self‑directed and organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced build environment
Skills And Experience — Preferred
Experience with pipefitting and/or compression fittings
Experience in steel fabrication techniques (welding, machining, forming, cutting, grinding, etc.)
Experience working with pressurized gases or fluids; hydrogen experience is a solid asset
Understanding of hazardous area requirements
Solid working knowledge of safety regulations and WHMIS
Familiarity with production planning, work order systems or manufacturing documentation workflows
Experience working in an ISO environment
