As a CG Animator at Stellar, your day-to-day contributions will span character performance, cross-departmental collaboration, and pipeline efficiency. Success in this role is defined by three core pillars:
1. Animation & Character Performance Creative Translation: Create high-quality, polished CG animation that cleanly hits the director’s creative vision and show style without requiring constant oversight or hand-holding.
Deep Character Exploration: Explore, understand, and animate primary and secondary characters deeply to deliver unique, compelling performances that feel authentic, grounded, and lived-in.
Complex Shot Execution: Confidently tackle complex, demanding shots that showcase a masterful understanding of character personalities, subtle acting choices, energetic weight distribution, and realistic environment interaction.
Seamless Partnership: Work closely and fluidly with directors, animation supervisors, and leads, openly accepting constructive notes and efficiently incorporating feedback into your animation blocks.
Active Dailies Participation: Show up ready to participate actively in daily reviews, share bold creative ideas, and collaborate on innovative problem-solving solutions for complex animation sequences.
Mentorship & Support: Bring your years of professional experience to the table by being a positive, grounding presence on the team, offering informal guidance, troubleshooting advice, or technical tips to junior artists when needed.
Creative & Technical Balance: Find that critical sweet spot between artistic creativity and production efficiency. You know how to deliver top-tier, cinematic-quality work while respecting strict delivery schedules and technical pipeline constraints.

The Requirements: What We Are Looking For To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must meet the baseline requirements outlined below:
Core Must-Haves Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional TV or feature film production experience as a CG character animator, backed up by a strong, performance-driven animation reel.
Education: No formal post-secondary degree is required—your hands-on production experience, technical execution, and portfolio reel speak entirely for themselves!
Core Software Mastery: High, demonstrable proficiency working within Autodesk Maya .
Core Animation Skills: A masterful, intuitive understanding of the core principles of animation, heavy body mechanics, weight, momentum, and nuanced, believable acting.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication skills. You know how to ask the right, clarifying questions to get the shot signed off efficiently.
Legal Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada. (Priority will be given to BC residents, Canadian citizens, and Canadian permanent residents).
Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Points) Traditional 2D animation experience is a wonderful, highly valued asset.
Strong life drawing background with a profound knowledge of human and creature anatomy, physical motion, structural form, and visual balance.
