As a team member of the Department of Clinical Engineering, the Biomedical Technologist II is responsible for the management of technology and support of clinically-applied devices. The technologist requires a comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, procedures and types of equipment, and must be well versed in details of anatomy and physiology. The technologist, working independently or as part of the clinical team is responsible for customer support, performance assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical, and electronic devices or systems. These responsibilities must all be completed according to CSA, manufacturers, department, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities also include prioritization, scheduling, managing of assigned workload, and other related duties as required.
As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist (BMET) II, you will provide assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical and electronic devices or systems.
Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology.
Completion of a two-year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Minimum of two years of experience working as a Biomedical Technologist in a hospital workplace. Experience with operating room equipment. Intermediate proficiency in computer software applications. The candidate must be willing and able to perform fieldwork at zonal sites. Technologists are expected to participate in on-call duties and perform after-hours work as required to meet operational needs.
Experience with OR lasers, vital signs monitors (VSMs), anesthesia machines, bladder scanners, and medical device system integration is considered an asset.
