Senior Litigation Associate (5+ Years)

Employment & Commercial Litigation | Toronto | Hybrid

The Opportunity

Our client is a highly regarded boutique litigation firm with a strong focus on employment law and a growing commercial litigation practice. They are seeking an experienced litigator with at least five years of post-call experience who thrives in advocacy, enjoys appearing before courts and tribunals, and is looking to take on a meaningful mentorship role within a collaborative team.

This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys the full spectrum of litigation—from strategy and client management to advocacy and courtroom work—and who brings a broad range of litigation experience rather than a highly specialized practice in one niche area.

What You'll Do

- Manage a diverse caseload of employment and commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.

- Represent clients before courts, administrative tribunals, and other adjudicative bodies.

- Conduct examinations, mediations, motions, hearings, and trials as required.

- Develop litigation strategies and provide practical, business-oriented advice to clients.

- Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, and other advocacy materials.

- Work closely with partners on complex and high-value matters.

- Mentor and support junior associates, students, and clerks, helping to develop the firm's next generation of litigators.

- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm's litigation practice.

What We're Looking For

- Minimum five years of post-call litigation experience.

- Solid courtroom and advocacy experience, including appearances before courts, tribunals, arbitrators, or administrative bodies.

- Experience managing files independently and running litigation matters from start to finish.

- A broad litigation background is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have handled a variety of matters and practice areas rather than spending their entire career focused exclusively on one niche area of law.

- Employment law experience is an asset but is not required. The firm is open to candidates from a wide range of litigation backgrounds who possess solid advocacy skills and transferable experience.

- Demonstrated ability or genuine interest in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

- Excellent drafting, analytical, and client management skills.

- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to provide strategic advice to clients.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a true litigator who enjoys being in court, arguing motions, handling hearings, and advocating on behalf of clients. You've developed your skills across a variety of litigation matters and are looking for an prospect where those experiences can be applied in a sophisticated employment and commercial litigation practice.

You are collaborative, entrepreneurial, and excited by the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers while continuing to build your own practice within a respected and growing boutique firm.

Why Join This Firm?

- Sophisticated and engaging litigation files.

- Meaningful courtroom and tribunal advocacy opportunities.

- Collegial, supportive, and entrepreneurial culture.

- Opportunity to mentor and help shape a growing team.

- Strong platform for continued professional development and long-term career growth.

- Hybrid work environment and competitive compensation package.
