The Opportunity
Shape the World Around You – As a Mechanical Layout Designer, you will play a key role in the design and optimization in the layout design of heavy industrial projects across the subsector. You will actively play a part in collaborating across teams and offering hands on experience with preparing 3D models and layout arrangements for plant upgrades and recent facilities, reviewing drawings and designs, developing process diagrams, site plans through to detail.
This position will be located in our Sudbury Ontario Office.

Your Impact
- Prepare 3D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilities
- Review vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs prior to fabrication
- Prepare design calculations and design briefs
- Prepare design sketches
- Conduct trade-off studies and prepare reports
- Participate in field engineering assignments
- Prepare all design work related to layout general arrangements and equipment model development
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standards
- Maintain and revise equipment libraries, department standards, and procedures
- Attend model reviews
The Skills That Set You Apart
- College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent;
- 8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design specifically with experience in layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects;
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment installation requirements in the field;
- Must have consulting experience;
- Proven experience with Plant3D, Revit, Microstation, SolidEdge and SmartPlant;
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal);
- French language skills (written and verbal) an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering;
- Strong critical thinking skills and an ability to problem solve effectively.

Compensation
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $77,400 – $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
