Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently seeking an Senior Transportation Planner/Engineer to join our rapidly growing Infrastructure Planning Solutions team.
The position is ideally located in Burlington, Ontario, however other Southern Ontario locations may be considered including Cambridge, Hamilton, London and Ottawa, or even remotely.

Ontario, we provide a comprehensive range of transportation and municipal infrastructure services from planning and environmental studies to preliminary engineering design, traffic engineering studies, and future mobility programs.
We are looking for a key individual to join our experienced and growing Infrastructure Planning team of specialists to provide a full range of discipline specific studies, EA support, planning process and consultation based services, and staff mentoring for infrastructure project delivery across Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support the delivery of Environmental Assessments under the Ontario Class EA for Transportation Facilities, Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process
- Manage and/or coordinate consultation and stakeholder engagement programs for projects across Ontario
- Coordinate and participate in consultation events including meetings, public information centers, workshops, presentations, and project site tours
- Manage, prepare, and track communications and consultation materials
- Manage, attend,
and assist in facilitate client and regulatory agency meetings
- Collaboratively coordinate with internal technical discipline leads, technical staff and sub-consultants for the timely execution of technical studies and preparation of documentation required to support the above noted EA process, and conduct senior review of such document deliverables prior to client release
- Manage EA commitment and compliance related deliverables through infrastructure project lifecycles
- Cooperatively coordinate resourcing of project assignments, and delivery of high quality program/project deliverables
- Lead and/or assist in proposal preparation and business development activities
- Manage, coach and mentor junior/intermediate technical and planning staff; and
- Other duties as assigned to you from time to time
Skills / Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, or a related science/engineering discipline
- 10+ years project experience within the Ontario environmental assessment process with sector experience focus in MTO Class EA, Metrolinx TPAP, and Municipal Class EA (various)
- Eligibility as a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) in Ontario is an asset
- Preparation of Environmental Reports and Environmental Assessments
- High caliber interpersonal skills,
ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, with strong public speaking skills
- Maturity and leadership ability to guide clients and colleagues, and ability to collaboratively work with clients, colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong sense of both establishing big picture project needs, as well as awareness of technical details that require risk recognition and prompt collaborative solution definition
- Ability to recognize and provide meaningful input to solve complex problems
- Sound understanding of design and construction applications as they pertain to planning
- Sound time management, coordination and organizational skills
- Fluency with use of MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint
- Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Demonstrated capability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
