Reporting to ISS Manager, the Service & Obsolescence Management Engineer will work with the In-Service-Support Team in supporting our customers with technical service requests related to operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, spares and obsolescence management for ship HVAC, Refrigeration, NBC and Sonar Mechanical Equipment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for sourcing and coordinating in-service support requests including but not limited to technical support, warranty claims, sales of spare parts, and training for all Bronswerk Marine & Offshore projects .
- Provide customers with parts or equipment information (diagrams, drawings, manuals and specifications).
- Manage warranty requests and work with other departments (i.e.
Field Service
Team, Electrical, Automation, Engineering, etc.) to resolve claims.
- Research and identify alternative spare parts that are a suitable match in fit, form and function as well as meeting Client specification requirements for spare parts requests that cannot be provided due to obsolescence,
- Co-ordination of any required shock and vibration testing of spare parts to meet Client specification requirements.
- Ensures that drawings are current (modified where needed by Engineering staff).
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Organizes the preparation of all contractual and supporting documentation.
- Ensures supporting documents for invoicing is provided to the Finance Department on a monthly basis to maximize positive cash flow
- Oversees tests and quality signoffs with clients.
- Serve as point-of -contact for Service & Obsolescence Management in regard to progress, invoicing, forecast costs, issues, quality trouble shooting and failure notifications.
- Lead effort to ensure equipment documentation is up to date.
- Provide shop and subcontractor support including, but not limited to:
- Developing Service & Obsolescence Management Procedures;
- Issuing purchase orders for spare parts;
- Document verifications;
- Ensure quality documentation is carried out and maintained;
- Interacting with Client staff as required, to achieve material acceptance;
- Establish and maintain spare part strategies to include Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), Bill of Material (BOM), quantity levels, etc.
- Participate in weekly departmental/section meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of creative solutions to improve products, processes, and operations. Which candidate profile are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or experience equivalent.
- 2 years + experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Eligibility to obtain a Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
- Experience in managing projects including cost control, and schedule management (an asset).
- Experience in an overhaul and repair shop environment is considered (an asset).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings is considered an asset.
- Experience with drafting and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD tools) (an asset).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong mechanical assembly aptitude.
- Ability to develop creative and practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Secret Security Clearance (must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
