Job Description: Are you energized by turning talent strategy into something leaders can actually use? Algonquin College is looking for a Specialist, Employee Performance & Development, to join our Employee Learning & Development team for a one-year contract.
In this hands-on, influential role, you will coach leaders through talent and performance decisions while strengthening succession planning, career development, leadership capability, and workforce readiness.
Your work could include facilitating talent discussions, improving a Workday process, analyzing data, or designing practical tools and learning experiences.
We are looking for someone who can navigate complexity,
challenge established approaches, and move work from concept through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and continuously improve the Colleges performance development, talent management, succession planning, and career development programs; Coach leaders and facilitate discussions about performance, employee development, talent, leadership capability, and workforce readiness; Coordinate annual performance and talent cycles, including system enablement, calibration, reporting, and process improvement; Use data and technology to identify insights, streamline processes, and create practical tools and resources; Collaborate across the College to advance inclusive, evidence-based talent practices while handling confidential information with sound judgement and discretion.
Provide 1:1 coaching on career development and growth.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business, or a related field.
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered; Progressive Human Resources experience, with demonstrated experience in talent management, performance development, succession planning, leadership development, organizational development,
or a related area; A CHRP, CHRL, coaching, or other relevant professional designation would be considered an asset; Experience designing, implementing, or improving programs, processes, or tools; Strong coaching, communication, consultation, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence leaders and translate information into practical recommendations; Experience using HR systems (Workday Preferred) or digital tools to support talent, performance, succession, or employee development programs; Sound judgement and demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
You will be well positioned to succeed in this role if you bring: Strong coaching skills and the confidence to help leaders navigate complex performance, talent, development, and workforce decisions; An ownership mindset, sound judgement, and the ability to move initiatives from concept through to implementation; Strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to turn organizational priorities into practical solutions; Experience advancing inclusive talent practices and expanding equitable access to development and career opportunities; Experience working in a unionized, public-sector, or postsecondary setting; Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and digital tools to enhance productivity, support research and analysis, streamline administrative processes, and improve overall work efficiency. *Vacancy is for P19276 * Position is paid at Payband 10 *12 Month contract with possibility of extension
