Career Opportunity as an IT Advisor – Asset, Licensing & Access Management
Take charge of Garaga's IT assets, licences and access, from inventory through to negotiation
Do you have experience in IT asset management, software licensing or access management, and do you know how to negotiate and get things moving?
We have the challenge for you!
Reporting to the VP of Information Technology, you will be responsible for managing Garaga's assets, licences, identities and access, as well as standardizing IT tools and purchasing.
You will set up and maintain the asset and licence inventory, manage the identity and access lifecycle, and oversee IT purchasing, while ensuring full visibility of technology costs and risks. Your goal: that every dollar spent on technology is justified and optimized, and that every access granted is legitimate and revoked at the right time.
Experience in IT project management, procurement or cybersecurity is an asset. This position is hybrid, Monday to Friday, with a flexible schedule. Sounds like you? We look forward to meeting you!
The Garaga Benefits:
Deferred Profit-Sharing Plan - 4% employer contribution (DPSP);
Registered Retirement Savings Plan;
Free virtual healthcare services;
Group Insurance Plan (Medical, Paramedical, Disability and Life);
Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP);
Recognition of years of service;
Several activities organized by the social club (participation is always on a voluntary basis), drawings for all kinds of cultural and sports events as well as $100 credit for clothing items per year;
Well-designed integration program for new employees.
JOB SUMMARY:
Start date: As soon as possible
Number of positions to fill: 1
Salary: 72 500 to 85 000 $
Employment Status: Permanent
On-site: 3-days on-site at Barrie Plant
Work schedule: Full-time, day shift, Monday to Friday
Scope of responsibilities of the IT Advisor – Asset, Licensing & Access Management:
You will cover five complementary areas: IT asset management, software licence management, identity and access management, tool standardization, and IT purchasing management.
Set up the IT asset inventory system (tool, process, governance) — it does not exist yet: building it is the first mandate
Maintain a complete, up-to-date inventory: workstations, mobile devices, peripherals, servers and network equipment — across all sites (plants, warehouses, offices)
Manage the asset lifecycle: acquisition, assignment, redeployment, replacement and secure decommissioning
Feed the CMDB and support ITSM processes (incidents, changes, configuration)
Apply and evolve the IT equipment policy
Manage the mobile phone fleet (mobility) and be accountable for its use
Software Asset Management (SAM)
Maintain the central register of software licences, subscriptions and contracts (Microsoft 365, D365, Atlassian, specialized tools, etc.) .
Reconcile licences paid for vs. licences actually used — release dormant licences
Make sure Garaga pays a fair price: the right licence levels, the right billing models, the right volumes
Participate in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Prepare and lead renewals — never be caught by an automatic renewal
Ensure contractual compliance and prepare for vendor audits
Identity and Access Management (IAM)
Manage the identity lifecycle: arrival, movement and departure (JML — Joiner / Mover / Leaver process) in collaboration with HR
Ensure access is granted according to role, documented, and revoked without delay upon departure
Conduct periodic access reviews with system owners — eliminate orphan accounts and excessive privileges
Support the deployment and maintenance of MFA and authentication standards
Work with cybersecurity to align with security requirements and Zero Trust principles
Tool Standardization and Rationalization
Keep the application portfolio up to date: which applications, for which need, used by whom, at what cost
Identify and eliminate redundant applications — one need = one tool
Promote the reuse of existing tools before any recent purchase
Define and maintain the catalogue of approved standard tools
Keep shadow IT in check: detect tools acquired outside the process and bring them back into the framework
IT Purchasing Management
Manage the IT purchasing process end to end: software, office equipment and infrastructure
Validate every purchase request against the existing inventory — reuse before buying
Negotiate with suppliers and compare options (price, terms, contractual flexibility)
Standardize purchased equipment to reduce variability and simplify support
Collaborate with Finance for budget visibility, cost allocation and IT spend tracking
Required qualifications for our IT Advisor – Asset, Licensing & Access Management:
Experience in IT asset management, software licence management or access management (a combination of the three is ideal);
Knowledge of the licensing models of major vendors (Microsoft, Atlassian, etc.)
— an asset;
Knowledge of ITIL / ITSM practices and inventory or CMDB tools — an asset;
Skills we are looking for in our IT Advisor – Asset, Licensing & Access Management:
Exemplary administrative rigour and attention to detail: the role relies on the reliability of the data;
Business acumen: the ability to challenge a need, compare offers and negotiate;
Ease in collaborating with a variety of stakeholders (IT, HR, Finance, suppliers);
Ability to lead change / influence: getting several teams (HR, IT, Finance) to adopt the JML process, access reviews and the standard tool catalogue takes more than passive collaboration;
Autonomy and strong organizational skills.
