Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Indigenous Services, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Education Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Education Department and oversees hospital special projects as assigned by the Senior Executive Team. Through the use of leadership skills, management tools and an understanding of the decision-making process, the Education Manager will work collaboratively with their team to achieve departmental and organizational goals. The manager will provide organization-wide educational and onboarding coordination, including assisting in planning, implementing and evaluation of educational projects.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Business Administration, or degree in a health-related profession required

Additional education/certification in training and development is a distinguishing asset

Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a healthcare setting required

Knowledge of project management methodologies and proficiency with project management tools/software considered an asset

Practical and educational knowledge across training and development, course instruction, curriculum-based learning, event coordination, project management, and recordkeeping

Superior knowledge of MS Office applications, online course development, and LMS functionality

Advanced problem-solving and customer service skills

Excellent conflict resolution, change management, and customer service skills

Strong time management, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Keen attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as an enthusiastic team player





Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting to unanticipated occurrences and making quick decisions

Job Duties:

Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the Education Department, ensuring the education team delivers high-quality learning, orientation, onboarding, and professional development programs that support organizational priorities

Demonstrates a commitment to quality and continuous improvement and acts as a positive representative of SLMHC.

Leads and supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of organizational projects and initiatives

Supervises, coaches, mentors, and supports direct reports, fostering a team-oriented, high-performing team culture and supporting staff development.

Collaborates with leaders, managers and staff across the organization to identify learning needs and develop strategies to address competency gaps and meet organization goals

Facilitates meetings and engages staff and leaders to support education and organizational development initiatives

Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures

Conduct project evaluations and lessons‑learned reviews upon completion

Design, implements, and coordinates program development initiatives in collaboration with staff.

Provide oversight and support of departments and staff during the implementation of new processes and change initiatives

Identifies and promotes innovative educational opportunities to support staff development

Review staff education requests in a timely manner

Travel may be required.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in a matter consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
