The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor, Disability Management professional to join our Human Resources team on a one-year term. This Exempt position will be the key point of contact for the disability case management related to both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
The position supports the delivery of the City’s programs related to injury and illness leave, attendance management, early return to work planning and occupational health and wellness programs to improve and promote employee health and proactively maximize employee attendance at work. The position will focus on the intake, management and oversight of WorkSafeBC claims, as well as developing gradual return to work plans and accommodations for both occupational and non-occupational situations compliant with collective agreements, human rights and duty to accommodate legislation.
As well will represent the City at all appeal levels including the Review Division and Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal (WCAT) for claim appeals and review board hearings. There is also a direct oversight on monitoring programs related to substance abuse disorders, as well as other wellness solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree or diploma, supplemented by a minimum of 2 years of disability management experience or an equivalent combination of work experience and education. Possessing the NIDMAR Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), along with course work in occupational health, workplace mental health or wellness will be considered an asset. A current and valid class 5 BC Driver’s Abstract demonstrating safe driving behaviour is required.

Salary: $101,155 - $119,337
