The Opportunity:
SaskBuilds and Procurement is looking to permanently fill the exciting and challenging position of Chief Engineer of the Legislative Powerhouse. The Legislative Powerhouse is a 24-hour high-pressure steam plant serving the heating and cooling needs of several facilities in Wascana Park. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the operations, safety, supervision, testing, efficiencies, and legal requirements in the operation of a high-pressure steam plant. Duties will also include input in the budget and capital planning associated with the plant.
The Chief Engineer will have a valid second-class power engineering ticket and a refrigeration engineers’ certificate with a proven background of hands-on experience in the operation of a high-pressure steam plant. The candidate will have a proven track record in being a safety champion.
The requirements of the position are also regulated by the Saskatchewan Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulation’s. The position supervises several heating plant engineers with second to fourth class tickets who work shift work. The Legislative Powerhouse also plays an significant role in working with Building Operations in the preventative and repairs to the auxiliary heating and cooling equipment in the buildings that the powerhouse services. For this excellent mechanical aptitude and experience in several tools and related equipment is required. A thorough knowledge of computer based operating systems is required.
The position is Monday to Friday, 7:30 - 4:30 pm and has compensated after hour on call requirements.
