The Subject Matter Expert ( SME ) and Curriculum Developer will support the development of new programming in Film and Media Production and curriculum documentation within the School of Arts and Education.

Working collaboratively with a Learning Designer from the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship ( CTLS ), the Associate Dean, and the Program Growth and Quality Manager in the School of Arts and Education, the successful candidate will support curriculum development and quality assurance activities for a proposed academic program. The position will contribute subject matter expertise to curriculum design, learning outcome development, curriculum mapping, course development, and related program approval requirements.

Key responsibilities may include:

Project Orientation and Planning





Participate in scheduled meetings with the Associate Dean, Creative Arts, the Program Growth and Quality Manager, and the Centre for Teaching and Learning to review project goals, deliverables, curriculum development processes, and available supports.

Participate in project meetings and progress check-ins throughout the curriculum development process.

Collaborate with project team members to ensure curriculum development activities align with institutional quality standards, credential requirements, and program development timelines.

Program Learning Outcomes and Curriculum Design

Develop and refine Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) aligned with disciplinary expectations and credential-level requirements.

Review and develop Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) to ensure alignment with program learning outcomes.

Contribute disciplinary expertise to the development of curriculum frameworks and program structures.

Review credential laddering, pathway development, and curricular progression to support student learning and program coherence.

Curriculum Mapping and Assessment Alignment

Participate in curriculum mapping activities to demonstrate alignment between courses, assessments, and Program Learning Outcomes.

Support the identification of where learning outcomes are introduced, developed, mastered, and assessed throughout the curriculum.

Assist in the development of assessment strategies and authentic learning activities that support achievement of program outcomes.

Provide feedback on curriculum sequencing, scaffolding, and overall program coherence.

Course Development

Develop course descriptions, course outlines, and related curriculum documentation.

Assist in the development of new course content, including learning activities and assessment approaches.

Review curriculum for alignment with institutional policies, credential expectations, and quality standards.

Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning

Contribute subject matter expertise to the development of experiential learning, applied research, field placement, and/or co-op components.

Quality Review

Collaborate with project team members to ensure curriculum materials support institutional approval, quality assurance, and program implementation requirements.

Required Qualifications
Combination of education and equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.

Demonstrated expertise in the subject area associated with the proposed program.

Experience in curriculum development, course design,



post-secondary teaching, or academic program development.

Familiarity with outcomes-based curriculum design, assessment practices, and work-integrated learning is considered an asset.

Salary or Hourly?
Salary Commensurate with education and experience.

Benefits and Compensation Information

Part-time instructors receive an additional 14% of the gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
