What You Will Do As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide quality person-centered support to youth and adults using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions in the group home under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical and Operational Manager.



You will receive a comprehensive orientation including Advanced CPI Training and ongoing supervision.
Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual’s quality of life
Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
Daily documentation and reporting
Medication Administration (as delegated)
Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
Supporting clients with diverse level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
Assisting with household activities and chores
You Must Have What you will need to be successful: A Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
Clear Broad Sector Screen dated within the last 3 months
Clear Criminal record check dated within the last 3 months
Valid Full Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
Driver’s Abstract (3-year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months
Previous community experience working with youth and adults with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset
