**Job Title: Sandblasting Operator**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on sandblasting and industrial painting of large industrial components, manufacturing equipment, and small parts.

You prepare, set up, mask, and operate the blast booth to deliver high-quality finishes in a busy shop environment.

In addition to production work, you support general facility tasks to help maintain efficiency and safety.

Over time, you may have the chance to take on documentation, inspection, and quality control responsibilities, creating a clear path for growth into leadership support.
**Responsibilities**
Perform sandblasting on large industrial components, manufacturing equipment, and small parts using the blast booth and related equipment.

Carry out all aspects of surface preparation, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, and masking parts prior to blasting or painting.

Apply industrial coatings using spray guns and airless spray systems, including direct-to-metal (DTM) paints and other industrial finishes.

Set up, operate, and shut down the blast booth safely and efficiently, ensuring proper use of all tools and equipment.

Conduct paint preparation activities, such as mixing coatings, adjusting spray patterns, and preparing work areas for painting.

Perform touch-ups and rework as needed to ensure a consistent, high-quality finish on all components.

Handle and move parts safely within the shop, coordinating with other trades and departments as required.

Assist with general facility tasks to support shop efficiency, cleanliness, and safety standards.

Follow established safety procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safe operation of shop machinery.

Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets and maintain workflow.

Support basic documentation and quality checks as directed, with the potential to expand into more formal inspection and quality control responsibilities over time.

Remain flexible with shift times and overtime requirements to support production needs during busy periods.
**Essential Skills**
Proven sandblasting experience in an industrial or shop environment.

Industrial painting experience in a shop setting, including preparation and application of coatings.

Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including cleaning, masking, and surface prep for industrial components.

Proficiency with spray guns and airless spray systems for industrial coatings.

Experience applying direct-to-metal (DTM) paints and similar industrial coatings.

Grinding and sanding experience for surface preparation prior to blasting or painting.

Ability to work safely in a paint booth and blast booth environment, following established procedures and safety practices.

Capability to perform detailed touch-ups and finishing work to meet quality standards.

Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including early starts and extended shifts when required.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience performing basic quality control checks and visual inspections on painted or blasted components.

Forklift experience,



particularly with outdoor sit-down forklifts, to move materials and components safely.

Crane experience for handling large or heavy components within the shop environment.

Familiarity with documentation related to production, quality, or safety processes.

Interest in expanding into inspection, documentation, and quality control responsibilities over time.

Ability to collaborate effectively with a large team of trades workers in a busy industrial shop.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a large industrial shop located in southeast Calgary, on Sheppard Road, with approximately 100 trades workers on site and plans for significant expansion in 2026.

You work in a production environment that includes a blast booth, paint booth, and various industrial equipment such as spray guns, airless spray systems, grinders, sanders, forklifts, and cranes.

The initial schedule runs Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with occasional earlier starts around 4:30 a.m. during busy seasons and consistent overtime opportunities.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Advantages**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
