Thrive Elementary Extra-Curricular Staff Instructor Who We Are
Thrive Charter School is a tuition-free, STEM-focused K–6 public charter school committed to closing opportunity gaps for families with low socioeconomic status.
We provide free transportation, meals, and after-school programming—all at no cost to families.
Position Overview Thrive Time is our engaging after-school program that gives students the chance to explore interests, develop new skills, and deepen existing passions through fun, educational activities.
As a Thrive Time Instructor, you'll design and lead your own approved program for mixed-age groups (ages 5–12).
This role blends creativity, leadership, and a love of working with children.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement a unique, school-approved program
Supervise and support mixed-age student groups
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment
Collaborate with other staff to provide a balanced offering of activities
Schedule & Compensation:$20.87–$27.18 per hour, based on experience2–4 shifts per week
Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 2:30–6:30 PM (except major holidays)First Wednesday of each month: 1:00–6:30 PMOpportunities for additional growth and responsibility
Position Description: Thrive Time is an amazing opportunity for our students to participate in fun and educational activities outside of regular school hours.
It is the equivalent of a club, camp, or group activity after school.
It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore new interested while also learning more about their current interests.
A Thrive Time Instructor position provides instruction and supervision to children ranging from ages 5-12.
Students are split into even mixed age groups, as an instructor you will be responsible for the implementation of program of your own design and choice, that is approved by the school while also providing a balance between other programs offered.
Experience and a strong passion for working with this age group is a must.
Qualifications
Desire and patience required to work with children from ages 5-12 is a must
Flexibility and openness to a consistently changing environment is a must
Previous experience teaching/directing/supervising children is a must
Ability to manage a variety of ages and ability levels within a grouping of children
Knowledge and awareness of group behaviour and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create positive relationships while establish rapport
Ability to relate well within the demographic of students and their families
Knowledge of principles and methods for lesson design, and instruction for individuals and groups
Knowledge of human behaviour and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation
An ethic of service to students, colleagues, and community to promote a welcoming, safe, and caring school and instructional workplace
Passion for sharing your expertise with children
Applicants who are offered employment and are new to Thrive Elementary School must complete and pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check or have completed one within the last 6 months.
