POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory andMaintenance Worker to join our Facilities Management Unit, within the CorporateServices Bureau. This position is responsible for shipping and receiving duties and manualwork involving routine repair and modification of furniture and equipment, anda variety of minor preventative building maintenance tasks.
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-siteposition and to be eligible for this auxiliary position, incumbents must haveflexible availability and be able to commit to a minimum of two (2) shifts permonth. Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. Assignedshifts may be prescheduled or by call-in. While hours are not guaranteed,incumbents may be scheduled up to 35 hours per week based on operational needsand assignment availability. Pleasenote, hours are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performsshipping, storing, receiving, and inventory management functions according toSPS practices including recording issues and returns.
Trackssupply stock level and initiates order requests.
Deliversproducts and supplies to various sections within SPS.
Usescomputer systems to track and report on inventory and consumption levels.
Respondsto various facility and building related service requests.
Completesminor facility repairs.
Assembles,modifies, and moves office furniture.
Updatesand maintains inventory of miscellaneous spare furniture parts.
Assistsmanager with sourcing and procurement of equipment and parts.
Gathersand inputs information from a variety of sources ensuring accuracy of data.
Preparesinformation related to inventory tracking.
Establishesand maintains databases, spreadsheets, project records, and related trackingsystems.
Createsand updates building layout drawings as required.
Escortsnon-security cleared tradespeople, contractors, and visitors in SPS securebuildings.
Assistsothers in performing their duties.
Performs related duties as required.
KnowLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of material inventory controls,procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of practices and procedures used inclerical support environment.
Knowledge of relevant computer officeapplications.
Knowledge of modular furniture components.
Knowledge of applicable safety regulationsand procedures.
Knowledge of SPS policies, procedures, andstandards.
Ability to communicate effectively, bothorally and in writing.
Ability to understand and effectively carryout oral and written instruction.
Ability to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships with the public and staff.
Ability to exercise good judgement inperforming the duties of the position.
Ability to maintain moderately complexrecords, prepare reports, and make arithmetical calculations.
Ability to effectively problem solve.
Ability to use organizational skills.
Ability to follow routine procedures underminimal supervision.
Ability to move, modify, and assemble officefurniture.
Ability to use wide variety of related toolsand equipment.
Ability to train junior staff.
Ability to file and manage manual andelectronic records.
Ability to maintain physical strength,stamina, and coordination to perform the duties of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented bycourses in building trades and computer office applications.
Two years of related experience in buildingmaintenance. An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experiencemay be considered
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with a safedriving history
Allapplicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearancethroughouttheir employment with SPS, which includesa mandatory polygraph examination.

The salary range is $30.71/hour -$32.90/hour (pay grade 13) based on 2024 rates.
