Salary Details
The salary range for this position is CAD $55.27/Hr. - CAD $79.45/Hr.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Manager, Infection Prevention and Control to join the Infection Control team supporting the Acute, Community and Long-Term Care portfolios, regionally across VCH. Reporting to the Director for Infection Prevention and Control, in accordance with the Mission, Values and Vision and strategic direction of VCH, the Manager is accountable for providing leadership and direction to the IPAC team across the region. The IPAC Manager plays a key leadership role in the development of a structure that supports IPAC at the point-of-care and at a system level. The Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of IPAC across VCH.

The role is responsible for supporting and informing the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Regional IPAC initiatives. The role manages people and resources and ensures consistent delivery of IPAC services and priorities across areas. The Manager is the primary escalation point for site/program leaders and ensures coordinated execution of surveillance priorities, outbreak readiness, education planning, and ensures quality improvement initiatives align with regional governance.

As aManager, Infection Prevention and Control with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Be accountable for the effective and efficient functioning of the regional Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program across VCH, and representing the organization on industry and provincial committees to enable Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) strategies to meet organizational and departmental goals.

Oversee and coordinate the program for multiple sites, as outlined by Regional Director and Regional Medical Director, the Infection Control Officers, and the Infection Control Committee.

Oversee operational and resource requirements, planning and development of policies and procedures, as well as lead/manage a team that provides consistent, standardized and evidence based advice in all aspects of infection prevention and control across designated program area(s) and/or facilities.

Participate in the development of organizational standards, protocols and education in the management of infection control for VCH that are consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Interact regularly with personnel at all levels within the organization including clinical operations directors,



managers and physicians regarding regional services and operational activities and communicate with key internal and external stakeholders, infection control committees in conducting daily business and achieving an organizational culture of patient safety and sustained reduction of Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAIs).

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Sciences' profession plus a minimum of five (5) years' recent, related Infection Control experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience providing leadership and direct supervision within a large unionized health care environment is preferred.

Certificate of completion in an IPAC-Canada (Infection Prevention and Control) approved course in infection prevention and control or equivalent.

Current CBIC Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or within two (2) years of hire.

Current registration/membership with a recognized professional association.

Knowledge & Abilities

Comprehensive, up to date knowledge of Infection Control principles used in prevention, control and surveillance of infection.

Familiarity with quality improvement, epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases and research techniques.

Comprehensive, up to date knowledge of standards, regulations, procedures, services and techniques across multiple modalities to ensure regulatory, quality, safety and accreditation standards are being met.

Skillfully coordinates activities of staff to ensure effective service delivery using strong leadership, coaching, mentoring and communication abilities. Fosters a respectful and empowered working environment in which individual competencies can thrive.

Uses an understanding of stakeholder needs to develop both strategic and tactical solutions to achieve objectives and ensure user needs are met.

Uses analytical abilities to review current processes, identify areas for standardization and improvement, and formulate evidence-based policies and procedures.

Demonstrates ability to build strong, positive relationships and effectively work with others in a consultative/collaborative manner in the pursuit of service and quality excellence

Effectively utilizes verbal,



written and technological communication skills when obtaining information, providing advice/information and otherwise communicating electronically, verbally or in written format.

Physically able to perform the duties of the position.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
