TEMPORARY POSITION - 9 MONTHS WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

The Opportunity
TITLE: Supported Child Development Consultant

DEPARTMENT: Child and Youth Services

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Supported Childcare Consultant - Grid Level 14P

HOURS OF WORK: 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Flexible schedule, Monday to Friday

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood development, child and youth care, psychology, education, or another field related to child development.

Experience

Two years recent related experience with the delivery of child and after school care programs for children and youth up to the age of nineteen

Skills and Abilities

Understanding and ability to apply current concepts in child and adolescent development.

Demonstrated ability to complete needs assessments, develop and implement behavioural interventions, and design individualized programs.

Familiarity with augmentative communication systems, including Boardmaker, PCS program, Writing with Symbols, and Sign Language.

Demonstrated ability to work with computerized systems.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, within a team setting,



and in conjunction with other agencies/groups.

Demonstrated ability to develop alternate strategies when supporting children and youth who need extra support.

Ability to be creative, demonstrate initiative, and deliver a positive sense of humour in a professional manner.

Demonstrated ability to teach and work effectively with children and youth in group settings.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive, supportive and professional relationship with childcare centres, children, youth, and their families.

Good written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of theory, principles, and practises of community living
