The Opportunity
This is a full time position within the Corporate Accounting team in our Calgary office. The successful individual will be responsible for financial reporting, complex transactions, and consolidations support and will have the prospect to work with several individuals across our businesses. This position reports to the Director, Corporate Controller with day-to-day direction from the Manager, Financial and Management Reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare first draft of the IFRS financial statements and management discussion and analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual tax compliance information packages for third party tax preparers
Assist in compiling audit evidence and preparing schedules for third party audits
Assist with the preparation of intercompany reconciliations and consolidations
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting entries, including the preparation of supporting schedules
Assist in analyzing complex accounting transactions and determining the impact on the Platform's financial statements
Help document processes and internal controls and provides recommendations for improvements
Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting as required
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Degree or diploma in accounting or finance
Preference will be given to applicants with a CPA designation
Experience:
5+ years of financial reporting experience under IFRS
Experience in writing technical accounting memos for adoption or application of IFRS standards
Experience with compilations and consolidations processes
Proven track record of successfully meeting commitments in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment.
Experience in Microsoft D365 F&O;
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
Results oriented and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Familiar with accounting rules and regulations
High level of ethics and adherence to code of conduct
