About the Role JD Development Group is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Development / Planning Coordinator to join our growing team.
In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of development applications and approvals, working closely with municipal authorities, consultants, and internal teams to move projects forward efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and track development applications including Official Plan Amendments (OPA), Zoning By-law Amendments (ZBA), Draft Plans of Subdivision, Site Plan Approvals (SPA), Committee of Adjustment applications (Minor Variance/Consent), Building Permits, and Condominium registrations
Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, municipal authorities, utility providers, and internal teams to facilitate development approvals and meet project schedules
Prepare and assemble municipal submission packages for various planning and permit approvals
Manage post‑construction matters including on‑site meetings, inspections with municipal staff and consultants, and release of securities
Monitor consultant deliverables, project schedules, budgets, and submission deadlines to ensure timely completion of project objectives
Liaise with municipal planning staff regarding application status and requirements
Review agreements, planning reports, technical documents, and supporting studies
Obtain and evaluate consultant proposals, scopes of work, and fee budgets
Analyze evolving planning policies, by‑laws,
and development regulations to identify potential project impacts and communicate implications to the internal team
Maintain project tracking systems, approval matrices, and critical path schedules
Prepare regular project status updates for senior management
Attend municipal meetings, public consultations, and consultant meetings as required
Qualifications Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field
3–4 years of experience supporting land development, planning, engineering, or construction projects (experience requirements may vary based on the level of the role)
Solid knowledge of municipal approval processes, development applications, and permitting
Robust written and verbal communication skills; comfortable liaising with internal teams, consultants, and government agencies (municipalities, regions, conservation authorities, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and by‑laws
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD is an asset
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
