ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for accurately collecting data and performing field layout for various industries and in a variety of environments.
This is a field-based position requiring independence, strong technical ability, and a safety-first mindset. You will work closely with contractors and site foremen to ensure data is collected and features are laid out correctly using the most appropriate euipment for the task.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Accurately collect as-built data of various features
● Perform field calculations, coordinate manipulations, and on-site file revisions
● Accurately perform survey layout using industry-standard point codes, spikes, stakes, and electronic documentation systems
● Work closely with contractors and site foremen to coordinate safe excavation activities
● Maintain detailed records, field notes, and safety documentation
● Safeguard and properly maintain company vehicle, survey equipment, and tools
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
● Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and site specific requirements
● Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture on all job sites
● Deliver professional, solution-oriented customer service to contractors
● Represent Rivacore with integrity, accountability, and professionalism at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
● 2 years experience in the lead role of a survey field crew.
● Comprehensive understanding and confident in operating robotic total stations,
GPS, and other surveying equipment.
● Interpret engineered drawings and field data to implement successful project completion
● Communicate effectively and regularly with supervisor, field leads, project managers, and client field representatives.
● Physically capable of performing the duties of the position
● Demonstrated problem-solving ability and sound decision-making in field environments
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
WORK SETTING
● Large and small scale construction job sites
● Urban and rural terrain including construction zones, gravel, ditches, and uneven surfaces
● Outdoor work in all weather conditions
● Overtime and weekend work as required
● Remote shift work
