Armo Tool is looking for an experienced Swiss Lathe Programmer/Operator to join our team in London, Ontario.
This is an opportunity for a skilled machinist who takes pride in precision work and is comfortable programming, setting up, and operating CNC Swiss-style lathes to manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components.
We're looking for someone who understands the complete machining process and can independently take a job from drawing and programming through setup, first-off inspection, troubleshooting, and production.

As a Swiss Lathe Programmer/Operator, you will:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC Swiss-style lathes.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T.;
- Complete machine setups, including tooling, collets, guide bushings, offsets, and material loading.
- Perform first-off inspections and make necessary program, tooling, and machine adjustments.
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and optical inspection equipment.
- Monitor production and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, repeatability, and part quality.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, machine, and process issues.
- Optimize cycle times and machining processes while maintaining quality and tool life.
- Work with live tooling, sub-spindles, cross drilling, milling, and other multi-axis operations as required.
- Accurately complete required production and quality documentation.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to troubleshoot and resolve technical or quality issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow established safety, quality, and operating procedures.
We're looking for someone with:
- Previous hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC Swiss-style lathes.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and work holding.
- The ability to develop CNC programs and make program edits and adjustments at the machine.
- Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T; skills.
- Experience producing tight-tolerance precision components.
- Robust precision measurement and inspection skills.
- The ability to independently troubleshoot machining, programming, and tooling issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple machining priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
Experience with Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Tornos, or similar Swiss-style CNC equipment; Fanuc or similar CNC controls; CAD/CAM programming software; live tooling; sub-spindles; multi-axis machining; bar feeders; automated production; process development; cycle-time optimization; SPC; or formal quality systems would be an asset.
Preferred Experience
- Experience programming and setting up Swiss-style CNC equipment for new or existing components.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Experience selecting tooling and developing machining strategies based on part geometry, material, tolerances, and production requirements.
- Experience with tight-tolerance machining and precision inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, insert selection, tool life, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
- Experience troubleshooting dimensional, tooling, surface-finish, or cycle-time issues.
- Experience with process improvement and identifying opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and machining efficiency.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
