Part time (.80 FTE) – Continuing Start Date: September 1, 2026.

School District 87 serves students and families within the unceded traditional territories of the Tahltan, Kaska and Taku River Tlingit First Nations and we honour these relationships. School has small class sizes which provide an excellent opportunity for differentiated instruction and learning. This is a positive professional growth opportunity as SD87 continuously explores innovative practices within an inquiry-based teaching and learning environment that honours Tahltan ways of knowing, being and doing.

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications, required competencies, and proven ability to fulfill the role as outlined below:

- Bachelor of Education.
- In-depth knowledge and practice of Tahltan Language and Culture.
- Successful experience with Indigenized Curriculum as well as Tahltan Language and Culture.
- Organize and participate in cultural activities on the land.
- Promote awareness, comprehension and fluency of Tahltan Language and Culture.
- Assist in developing, preparing, presenting and integrating Indigenous language/cultural activities into the regular curriculum.
- Develop,



prepare and present culturally appropriate and relevant materials in Indigenous Language and Culture classes.
- To support the sense of belonging, identity, and self-esteem in a caring and inclusive environment for all learners.
- To improve the physical well-being of Indigenous learners.
- The ability to connect with students in trusting and supportive ways, clarify problems and challenges, and restore harmony and respect.
- Experience with Trauma Informed Practice.
- Ability and commitment to work and engage collaboratively with students, staff, parents, guardians, and community.
- Demonstrated success utilizing varied instructional strategies and differentiated instruction.
- Commitment to on-going professional growth.
- Willingness to support extra-curricular activities.

School District 87 offers the highest salaries in the province; a relocation allowance upon arrival, annual personal travel allowances for employee and dependents living with them, a substantial professional development package and an excellent benefit package (100% medical, extended health, dental and group health insurance). In summary:
- Competitive Salary ($76,140 - $127,133 )
- Moving Relocation Allowance: $2,634.84 ($1576.57 upon hire/788.27 after 2 yrs.)
- Recruitment and Retention Allowance: $3,500.00
- Isolation Allowance: $4,253.57
- Travel Allowance: $2,412.15
- A long-term service increment is provided at 4 and 8 years of continuous service.
