Senior Maintenance Planner - Bus Fleet & Garage Canada
Job Description Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Bus Fleet Maintenance Office is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Planner who will be reporting to the Regional Senior Manager of Bus Fleet Maintenance, the Maintenance Planner will be accountable to produce long term planning (2-5 year) and weekly or daily detailed planning and scheduling required to maintain, repair and upgrade all Bus Fleet of GO Bus Services. This planning must include all resources required to execute operation, including Labor, Services, Parts, Facilities etc. Liaise with the Master Planner and Analytics Functions, to consolidate all work done by the region with the rest of the division. Work together with the Master Planning Function to ensure aligned plan for the upcoming months/years.
What will I be doing?
Generate accurate forecasts based on historical data analysis and emerging trends to predict future maintenance needs and adjust planning strategy for the region accordingly
Produce a labor forecast that estimates the available wrenching time of the Coach Technicians and allows to align long term planning with the forecasted capacity.
Balance the workload along the year matching the maintenance needs with the availability of labor resources.
Identify gaps and connect to Master Planning function and Maintenance Manager to address the gaps.
Produce a maintenance schedule that balances operational needs with resource availability, minimizing service disruptions. Scheduling must provide a frequent (weekly or daily) schedule specifying the activity, vehicle, resources, facility and any other detail required to execute the maintenance activity.
Follow up with Parts/Stores on the availability, future deliver and lead times of the parts required to execute the maintenance plan and schedule.
Ensure Regional Maintenance Planning objectives are aligned with the Master Planning Objectives of the business unit.
Participate in Planning Strategy meetings ensuring that the information is communicated to the regional maintenance teams.
Support regulatory audits and requests for information

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree, an engineering technologist diploma OR a certified trade with a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent, may be considered.
Demonstrated years of progressively responsible industrial or vehicle railway maintenance experience is required
CET, Certificate of Qualification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire considered an asset
Excellent relationship management, consultation, and oral/written communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
Demonstrated expertise in work order management systems, database management, data mining and analytics
Knowledge of industrial maintenance and outage scheduling best practices
Able to visualize complex workflows and break down required maintenance activities into functional and logically grouped tasks for scheduling
Shows initiative and takes accountability for work
Political acuity and organizational savvy; able to recognize and address sensitive or contentious issues in a discreet and professional manner
Position may be exposed to inclement weather, industrial hazards, Bus Garage railway hazards and working from heights.
Use of personal protective equipment is required
