TheInpatient Medicine&ICU; Program atTHPconsists of a totalofmore than350beds across theCVH&MHandis; staffed by large interprofessionalteams who support the care of complex medicine patients within the Mississauga Halton LHIN.Our in-patient units offer first-rate care inan cutting-edge environment supporting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs ofourpatients. We are dedicated tobuilding adiverse workforce that reflects the community in which we live and serve.
Reporting toaClinical Manager, theidealcandidate willbefocused onproviding excellent patient centered careina dynamic environment where he/she willbegiven the opportunity todeliver care with compassion, excellence and courage.
RequiredQualifications:
Graduate ofarecognized college orschoolofnursing orequivalent (e.g.certificate RPN withaddedcourses in medication administration,phlebotomy, and health assessment)
Registered ingoodstanding withtheCollege ofNurses ofOntario (CNO)orcurrently meettheeligibility criteria to register in good standing intheTemporary Class or General Class with the CNO.

CurrentBasicLifeSupportcertification
Ifworking inanareawithtelemetry, successful candidates responsibleforobtainingformalcertification within six months of hire
MedicationAdministrationCertificate andexperience withadministrationofmedication withinthelastyear required
Demonstrated knowledge,
experience and theability tocare for acute patients with the following care needs: initiation and maintenanceof IV therapy, administration of medication above andbelow the drip chamber, patientcontrolledanalgesia, Enteralfeeds,TPN,transfusion ofbloodproducts,centralvenousaccess devices, blood glucose monitoring, naso-gastric tubes, wound management skills, skincare, footcare, routine infection control practices, normal and abnormal blood values
Computer skillsincluding typing,sending andreceiving emailandworkingwithMicrosoft applications such as Word
Apositiveworkandattendancerecord isessential
PreferredQualifications:
Physicalassessmentcourse
Experience workingwithacutecaremedicinepatientpopulations, includingrespirology, nephrology,cardiology patients requiring telemetry monitoring and geriatric patients
Experienceinprovidinganddeliveringpatientsandfamilieswitheducationalteaching
Demonstrateseffectiveinterpersonal,communication,organizationalandproblem-solvingskills

JobResponsibilities:
Provision of nursing carefor patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education
Teachingandcoachingtopatientsandfamilies
Practicing incompliance withprovinciallegislation, hospital policiesandprocedures; professional regulatory standards; and best practices within the nursing profession
Maintaining qualified competence by completing regular professional development (including annual training/education as indicated)
