Trade / Scope Specific responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
Inspection of existing heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Diagnose condition of existing heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Perform preventative maintenance on existing “trade” infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Recommend best-fit solutions for existing “trade” infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Service and repair existing “trade” infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Construction of new heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure.
Assembly and installation of current and replacement heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Communication of inspections, diagnoses, preventative maintenance, recommendations, construction, service / repair, and installation of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Documentation of inspections, diagnoses, preventative maintenance, recommendations, construction, service / repair, and installation of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
Follow safety guidelines, approved processes and procedures on the job site.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors.
Communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
PPE Requirements
All HVAC Journeyman personnel are required to wear and maintain the following personal protective equipment (PPE) while on site:
CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots
Hard hat (CSA-approved)
High-visibility vest or clothing
Protective gloves suitable for mechanical work
Safety glasses or goggles
Hearing protection in designated high-noise areas
Flame-resistant (FR) clothing where required
Fall protection equipment (harness, lanyard, anchorage) when working at heights
CP Services provides all required PPE and ensures personnel are trained in its proper use and maintenance in accordance with Alberta OHS legislation and site-specific requirements.
Work Environment
The HVAC Journeyman role is based on industrial oil and gas worksites, which may include:
Remote or rotational camp environments
Confined spaces (boilers, ducting, mechanical rooms)
Elevated work areas requiring fall protection
Exposure to high temperatures, noise, dust, and chemical agents
Outdoor conditions including extreme weather
All personnel are expected to follow site-specific safety protocols, participate in required safety orientations, and maintain compliance with all Alberta OHS regulations. CP Services prioritizes a safe working environment and ensures employees have the necessary training, supervision, and equipment to perform their duties safely.
Please note the successful candidate will be required to pass a drug and alcohol and fit for work exam.
Applicants must already hold the following certifications to be eligible for this position. If the successful candidate does not already possess these certifications, they will be required to obtain them at their own expense prior to commencing work.
General Certifications Required
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Valid Drivers Abstract - No more than 4 demerit points
Valid HVAC Journeymans Certificate
