About the Role: Generating, and pitching original story ideas.
Chasing, writing, shooting, producing, and editing original news stories for Global Durham broadcast and globalnews.ca while meeting multiple daily deadlines.
Posting updates online as a story is being developed.
Creatively using production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytelling.
Establishing and maintaining a network of news contacts throughout the Durham region.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Previous work experience in broadcast and online journalism.
Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills.




Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
The ability to effectively solve problems and troubleshooting while dealing with the unexpected.
Ability to handle the demands and pressure of tight deadlines and breaking news.
Proven ability as a team player with a positive attitude.
Great communication and organizational skills.
Valid class G driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
