Availability: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
You’ll Love Your Position as Controller Northern Roads Auto Group is looking for an experienced Automotive Dealership Controller to join our growing team.
This is not a general accounting position. Automotive dealership accounting experience is required.
As Controller, you’ll oversee the accounting operations of one dealership or support multiple dealerships within Northern Roads Auto Group. This is a hands‑on leadership position for an experienced automotive accounting professional who understands dealership financials, OEM reporting, deal posting, DMS systems, and the fast‑paced nature of automotive retail.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with proven dealership accounting experience who can confidently lead the accounting function while partnering with dealership management, ownership, OEMs, banks, and external advisors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include Preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including OEM manufacturer financial reporting
Leading the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger activity
Reviewing vehicle deal postings, ensuring accuracy of paperwork, and validating reported gross profit
Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining accurate financial schedules
Monitoring cash flow and supporting banking and treasury functions
Preparing and analyzing dealership financial results for ownership and senior leadership
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Coordinating annual audits and responding to CRA, banking, and manufacturer reporting requirements
Maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Reconciling intercompany transactions across multiple dealerships and related entities
Supervising, mentoring, and developing the accounting team
Developing and improving accounting procedures, SOPs, automation initiatives, and DMS processes




Supporting dealership leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making
Identifying opportunities to improve dealership accounting processes, controls, and profitability
Embracing new technologies, AI tools, and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy
We’d Love to Hear From You If You Have Required Qualifications CPA designation required
Automotive dealership accounting experience required
Several years of progressive accounting experience within an automotive dealership environment
Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and OEM reporting
Experience with dealership month-end and year-end processes
Experience reviewing vehicle deal postings and gross profit reporting
Strong understanding of reconciliations, internal controls, and full‑cycle accounting
Dealer Management System experience required — PBS, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced dealership environment
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in technology, automation, and AI
Strong Assets Experience as a Dealership Controller
Experience overseeing accounting for multiple rooftops
Experience with multiple OEMs
Experience preparing and submitting OEM dealer financial statements
Previous supervisory or accounting management experience
Multi‑entity or multi‑location dealership accounting experience
Dealership payroll experience
Experience with dealership budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Experience working directly with dealership ownership and General Managers
Experience with dealership audits, CRA matters, banking relationships, and manufacturer requirements
