Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Tacora Resources, are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) to join their team. Work arrangements for the position can be hybrid work arrangements from their St. John’s office, with frequent travel to the iron ore mine in Wabush, NL, or for in-office positions in Wabush, with relocation assistance provide for non-locals to area.

Tacora is servicing high demand customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to provide high-grade and high-quality iron ore products.

Job Responsibilities:
Leads and supports the electrical aspects of projects and scopes of work from concept through to commissioning
Creates and issues sketches and designs for in field use for any modifications to equipment
Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resources
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure troubleshooting and recommended solutions are implemented and achieving desired outcomes
Create and review electrical designs, ensuring compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards, and regulations
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations of design options
Design and specify electrical systems including substations, switchgear, MCCs, power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems
Develop single-line diagrams, cable schedules,
load studies, and protection coordination studies Evaluate supplier proposals and assist in procurement decisions
Liaise with vendors and manufacturers to ensure design intent and quality requirements are met
Provide on-site engineering support, including field inspections to resolve site technical issues
Ensure all electrical designs and site activities comply with HSE regulations, promoting a strong safety culture within the engineering and site teams
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and leadership
Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and project documentation
Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost savings, and innovation
Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
Review and approve electrical construction drawings and documents
Other tasks and duties as required
Skills and Qualifications:
The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience, preferably in the mining sector
The candidate must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Required)
