Role Overview
Reporting to the Superintendent, Process Optimization, the Sr. Technician, Metallurgy & Technology (Temporary) provides technical support for process improvement, technology development, and operational performance initiatives across Trail Operations. This role conducts laboratory, pilot, and plant-scale investigations; analyzes process data; supports troubleshooting activities; and collaborates with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Conduct laboratory, pilot-scale, and plant-based testing to support process improvements and technology development.
Analyze process and laboratory data, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations based on findings.
Support process troubleshooting, optimization, and operational improvement initiatives.
Operate, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot testing and process equipment.
Assist with feasibility studies, equipment evaluations, and process development projects.
Coordinate and support plant trials, startup activities, and technical investigations.
Provide technical guidance to technicians, operators, tradespeople, contractors, and project team members.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant performance.
Initiate maintenance work requests and support procurement activities as required.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and occupational hygiene standards.
Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized Institute of Technology or University in metallurgical, mineral processing or chemical sciences or certified with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) in a relevant field is required
A minimum of 8 years relevant experience with working knowledge of physical, chemical and metallurgical processes is required
Experience in the design, construction, operation, troubleshooting, and modification of laboratory, pilot, and plant-scale equipment.
An ability to work both independently and as part of a team to contribute to the success of a technical group is required
Highly organized self-starter with solid time management skills are a must
Proficiency in computer systems: MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
Experience with Trail’s process data systems, (e.g. PDH, LIMS, GE Aps) or metallurgical modelling software an asset
Pay Range: $106,368 - $114,984
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
