Job Profile
Under the general direction of the Manager of Plant and Equipment,
the Superintendent of Facilities Contracts and Maintenance is responsible for the management, overall operation and maintenance of all Transit buildings, structures and properties including three Transit bus garages, the Maintenance Facility, the Administration Building, Rapid Transit Stations and 700 Bus Shelters. In addition, the Superintendent provides oversight to the Facilities Project and Contracts Manager for all contract administration.
As the Superintendent of Facilities Contracts and Maintenance you will:
Oversee the maintenance, performance and improvements of all facilities, facilities equipment, systems and procedures to ensure cost efficiencies and compliance with legislation, Safe Manitoba requirements and Trades Certification Codes
Provide oversight to the Facility Project and Contracts Manager in annual facility construction, repair and modification projects in accordance with established City Project Management Standards
Provide leadership, direction and guidance to staff concerning day-to-day operations and address training and development needs
Be responsible for the human resources and labour relations functions in the Facilities Contracts and Maintenance subsection
Oversee major new initiatives and special projects involving purchases of new equipment and services or upgrading of facilities
Analyze the efficiency, effectiveness and overall performance of information systems in support of the equipment and processes specific to Plant and Equipment Facilities
Participate as a member of the Divisional Management Team and assist the Manager of Plant and Equipment in setting objectives, developing plans and policies and determining priorities within the Plant and Equipment Division.
Be responsible for recruitment,
selection and performance and attendance management of the section team
Make decisions and/or recommendations regarding employment status for current or existing employees.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
Bachelor's degree in applicable Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of Facility Maintenance and its associated equipment and sub-systems with knowledge of current best practices
Several years' experience in a supervisory/management role
Demonstrated ability to function as a Team Leader in the continuous improvement process while maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, employees, all levels of the organization and outside agencies
Demonstrated ability to lead in a unionized environment with working knowledge of the Amalgamated Transit Union Collective Agreement and Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers will be considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to adhere to the requirements of the Respectful Workplace Standard
Demonstrated acceptable safety and job performance relevant to this position
Must be able to work efficiently with minimum supervision
Must be capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions
Must be able to communicate and express ideas clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
Working knowledge of management information systems and current computer applications
Working knowledge of statistical and financial analysis techniques used to evaluate alternatives and develop performance standards
Demonstrated superior ability using Word, Excel and Power Point office tools
Conditions Of Employment
Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license, in good standing.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm or as operationally required .
