Your Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and adaptable Therapy Assistant to join our Community Occupational Therapy team based out of Melcor Centre in Lethbridge. Working under the supervision of Occupational Therapists, the Therapy Assistant plays an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services to adults living in community settings. This position involves providing client-centered interventions and support to help individuals maintain independence and quality of life in their homes and communities. This role requires regular travel to a variety of community-based settings, including private residences, lodges, group homes, and supportive living facilities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships within an interdisciplinary team. The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities effectively. Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
Proficiency with electronic documentation and technology. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to patient- and family-centered care. Flexibility and adaptability in supporting a diverse client population across community settings.
There may be opportunities to provide services in surrounding rural communities and to support clients through virtual rehabilitation initiatives.
Description
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist.
You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams.
You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications
Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in community-based rehabilitation setting. Knowledge of mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and transfer aids.
