Territory Manager – Crane Division

Compensation: $50,000 Base Salary + Commission

We are currently recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Territory Manager – Crane Division to join the team in Burlington, Ontario .
The Opportunity The Territory Manager will be responsible for developing and managing customer relationships within an assigned geographical territory with a primary focus on growing sales within the mobile crane and heavy equipment market .
This is a field-based sales position requiring a proactive, relationship-driven individual who is comfortable developing current business, maintaining existing accounts, conducting customer site visits and identifying opportunities to increase equipment sales.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal Sales, Service, Parts and Workshop teams to ensure customers receive responsive, knowledgeable and professional support throughout the entire sales process.
Candidates with previous experience in the mobile crane industry, crane equipment sales, heavy equipment sales or a closely related sector are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow sales of new and used crane and heavy equipment within the assigned territory.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through prospecting, cold calling, networking and customer site visits .
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Understand customer operations and equipment requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts for the assigned territory.
- Gather trade appraisal information to support the accurate evaluation of customer trade-ins based on current market conditions and resale value.
- Prepare initial costing information for prospective transactions, taking into consideration customer requirements, inventory levels, equipment availability and competitor pricing.
- Coordinate the successful completion of equipment sales and act as the primary liaison between the customer and internal departments throughout the transaction.
- Assist with Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to ensure customer equipment, service and parts requirements are properly addressed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information and sales activity within the company’s CRM system .
- Follow up on equipment orders, shipments and deliveries to ensure customers receive their equipment in a timely manner.
- Maintain ongoing contact with customers following the sale to identify future equipment, parts and service opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Service, Parts and Workshop departments to provide a high level of customer service.
- Monitor market conditions, competitive activity and customer trends within the territory.
- Develop and maintain a strong professional network within the crane, construction and heavy equipment industries.
- Represent the organization professionally at customer locations, industry functions and other business-development activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary diploma and/or equivalent relevant sales experience .
- Previous experience in mobile crane sales, crane equipment, heavy equipment, construction equipment or a related industrial equipment environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in territory sales, business development or account management.
- Strong understanding of relationship-based and consultative selling.
- Proven ability to develop new customers while maintaining and expanding existing accounts.
- Experience with equipment quotations, pricing, trade-ins and sales negotiations would be an asset.
- Comfortable prospecting and generating new business through cold calling, networking and in-person customer visits.
- Experience working with CRM systems and maintaining accurate customer and sales information.
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyze customer requirements and develop appropriate equipment solutions.
- Robust organizational and time-management abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a field-based sales environment.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Travel & Working Conditions This is a road-based territory sales position requiring regular customer visits and travel throughout the assigned territory. Candidates should be comfortable travelling approximately two to three times per week , depending on customer and business requirements. The position may occasionally require extended hours to accommodate customer needs, equipment deliveries or other business requirements.
