Working closely with customers, the sales team, manufacturing team and leadership, the Truck Body Designer will design and develop truck-mounted equipment and service truck applications. Using SolidWorks, you will create 3D models, detailed shop drawings and bills of materials to support fabrication.
Working on service trucks, you will also consider chassis specifications, weight distribution and axle loads as part of the design process, while providing technical support during installation and commissioning. You will collaborate with the manufacturing team to continuously improve Quest Fabrication’s designs and mechanical design practices.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a practical,
hands-on designer who understands that a strong design needs to work on the shop floor, not just on a screen. You enjoy solving technical challenges, collaborating with the shop floor and customers, and seeing your work move from concept to completion.
You Bring:
- Experience with drafting and design, along with post-secondary education in mechanical engineering, automotive design or similar.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or specialized truck upfit software.
- Understanding of metal fabrication, welding practices, vehicle dynamics, and gross vehicle weight ratings
You Are:
- A practical problem-solver who designs with manufacturability in mind.
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative and comfortable working directly with customers, sales, leadership and the shop floor.
- A clear communicator who can explain technical drawings and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
COMPENSATION
- Annual salary. $70,000 to $90,000, depending on education and experience
- Three weeks of vacation.
