Position Summary
The Aircraft Technician- Structures will be responsible for assembly, fitting, modification, and inspection of structural components used in sub-assemblies. This role requires interpreting engineering drawings, precision measurement, use of hand and power tools, drilling, riveting, fastening, structural repairs, and maintaining quality and safety standards.
Duties &
Responsibilities: Perform structural repairs/major mods installation tasks under the supervision of a licensed Structures Technician in a manufacturing production setting.
Knowledge of standard practices and structures systems, accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, system schematics, engineering orders, test documents, manufacturer’s installation manuals.
Have an understanding of other aircraft systems i.e. hydraulic, flight controls and major components.
Complete structural repairs/major mods in accordance with drawings.
Repair, fabricate parts and components; fabricate per drawings and standard practices.
Perform system checks and inspections to ensure structures systems are in compliance with industry and safety standards.
Keep accurate records of all work performed and maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
Maintain a clean work area and alert the leadership team of any safety concerns; take immediate action or report immediately any unsafe conditions.
Responsible for ensuring both accuracy and traceability of parts removed or installed on Aircraft.
Perform other work as assigned and willing to work shift work.
Properly utilize Structures test equipment to perform systems tests.
Properly utilize and maintain Structures hand tools to perform installations and repairs.
Safely operate ground support equipment, i.e. Power carts, lifts (when properly trained), etc. as required. Qualifications:
Required 5+ years of experience in structural assembly, or aerospace manufacturing.
Completion of an Aircraft Structures program from a recognized ATO, or equivalent combination of training and relevant hands-on experience in aircraft structures.
Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings
Skilled in riveting, fastening, measuring, and structural fitting
Ability to use hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque tools, and precision instruments
Attention to detail and workmanship Preferred Sheet metal or composite repair experience
Experience with all De Havilland Aircraft of Canada products.
ERP/MRP system experience
Ability to acquire a Transport Canada issued Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
Flexibility to change shifts is required.
