Our client is a leading GC in the construction interiors space and due to new project awards and growth, we are recruiting an assistant superintendent to join this growing team!
- Works with the Site Manager to execute the detailed action plan and schedule, to assist with the execution of the project on time and on budget; assists with mobilizing labour, equipment and material resources.
- Coordinates work performance, quality and efficiency of subcontractors.

- Identify overall design intent, scheduling, possible cost saving measures and potential construction issues.
- Interprets plans and specifications according to the scope of the project, ensuring compliance with working drawings and specifications.
- Coordinates subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to the project construction schedule and budget.
- Liaises effectively and maintains regular communication with all Project Stakeholders - the Project Manager, the Site Manager, Landlord, Client, Consultants, Architects, Engineers and Designer.
- Creates a safe work environment by ensuring adherence to strict Health & Safety guidelines on site and ensuring compliance with all related legislation and protected practices.
- Exercises legal due diligence, including assisting with the maintenance of a daily job history log,
inspecting workmanship to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and identifying resources required to mitigate potential risks and hazards.
- May be involved in project close out activities, including permits and quick resolution of deficiencies and site cleanup; performs rough carpentry work such as minor cutting and patching for trade access, trenching and ply blocking.
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of assisted construction management experience or proven experience in the industry and ability to step into this expanded role.
- Experience in the Commercial Construction/Interior fit-up industry preferred.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Develop leadership skills to effectively hold others accountable for achieving project goals.
- Flexible; ambitious self-starter; solid team player with a positive attitude who fosters teamwork and cooperation with potential to lead a highly functional team.
- Relationship savvy and interpersonal skills to obtain the respect of all stakeholders.
- Understanding of applicable health and safety and construction-related legislation.
- Exceptional time management to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively.
- Commitment to recognizing and mitigating risks; Developing negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- High degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.
- Computer efficiency. Procore is an asset.
