Autobody Painter / Autobody FLOATING Refinishing Technician – Kitchener, ON (JAE)

About the Position
We are looking for an experiencedAutomotive Painter / Automotive Refinishing Technicianto join a busy collision repair facility in Kitchener, Ontario.
The ideal candidate has experience with automotive refinishing, colour matching, paint mixing, surface preparation and spray-gun application. We will consider experienced Automotive Painters, licensed tradespeople and qualified apprentices.

Duties
- Inspect repaired panels and surfaces before refinishing.
- Clean and prepare vehicle surfaces for paint.
- Remove old coatings and finishes when required.
- Sand and feather-edge repaired areas.
- Apply fillers and repair materials to correct minor surface imperfections.
- Mask vehicles, panels, trim and adjacent areas before painting.
- Prepare the spray booth and refinishing equipment.
- Set up, adjust, operate and maintain automotive spray guns.
- Identify paint codes and select the correct colour formulas.
- Mix paint and refinishing materials according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform colour matching and tinting as required.
- Complete spray-out cards and verify colour match before application when required.
- Apply primers, primer surfacers and sealers.
- Apply basecoat, single-stage finishes and clearcoat.
- Blend adjacent panels to achieve an accurate colour transition.
- Follow proper flash times and product/manufacturer procedures.
- Inspect completed paintwork for colour, coverage, texture and overall finish.
- Identify and correct paint imperfections and refinishing defects.
- Wet sand, polish and buff finished surfaces when required.
- Remove masking materials and complete final finishing work.
- Apply corrosion protection and protective coatings when required.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, paint equipment and work areas.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Work with body technicians, preppers, estimators and production staff to keep repairs moving efficiently.
- Maintain high standards for quality, productivity and workmanship.
Requirements
- Minimum3 years of automotive painting/refinishing experiencepreferred.
- Experienced Automotive Painters and qualified apprentices are encouraged to apply.
- OntarioAutomotive Painter (410N)certification or Red Seal Automotive Refinishing Technician certification is an asset but not required.
- Strong automotive surface-preparation skills.
- Experience with automotive paint mixing and colour matching.
- Experience applying primers, sealers, basecoat and clearcoat.
- Comfortable performing complete refinishes, spot repairs and blend-panel work.
- Experience operating automotive spray guns and paint-booth equipment.
- Able to identify and correct common paint and finish imperfections.
- Strong attention to detail and colour‑matching ability.
- Able to follow paint‑manufacturer procedures and technical information.
- I‑CAR and OEM training/certifications are assets.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Own basic tools and CSA‑approved safety footwear.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collision repair team.
- Safety-conscious, reliable and able to maintain a clean work area.
