General Scope The Breakfast Cook is a key member of the camp services team, responsible for preparing and serving the morning meal and the take-out lunch program for all personnel working at the Minto Mine, a remote mining camp in Yukon Territory.

Working the early shift, the successful candidate will produce consistent, high-quality food on a fixed schedule, maintain a clean and food-safe kitchen, and help create a welcoming start to the day for crews heading out to work. This role suits someone who is dependable, well organized, and comfortable cooking in volume in a remote camp setting.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Food Preparation & Service

- Prepare, cook, and serve a full hot and cold breakfast for camp personnel, on schedule and to the posted menu.
- Prepare and set up the take-out lunch program, including sandwiches, salads, soups, baked goods, and packaged snacks for crews going to the field.
- Bake breads, muffins, and pastries as required, and support the kitchen with baking prep for later shifts.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and cultural or medical food requirements with safe, clearly labelled alternatives.
- Maintain portion control, presentation standards, and consistent quality while managing food waste.

Food Safety & Sanitation

- Follow all food safety requirements, including safe food handling, cooking and holding temperatures, cooling procedures, and daily temperature logs.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, coolers, and dry storage areas, and complete assigned cleaning schedules.
- Practise safe food rotation using the first-in, first-out method, and monitor product dating and cooler organization.
- Report equipment problems, pest sightings,



and any food safety concerns to the Camp Services Manager immediately.

Kitchen Operations & Inventory Support

- Open the kitchen for the early shift, complete opening checks, and have service ready at the posted breakfast time.
- Receive, check, and store food deliveries, verifying quantity, condition, and temperature on arrival.
- Track stock levels of breakfast and lunch items and provide ordering input to the Camp Services Manager ahead of scheduled resupply.
- Complete shift handover notes and prep lists so the following shift can carry on without interruption.

Health, Safety & Camp Culture

- Work in accordance with Yukon occupational health and safety legislation, the mine's health and safety program, and all site rules and procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and emergency response drills, and report incidents and near misses promptly.
- Provide friendly, respectful service to all camp residents and contribute to a positive, inclusive camp environment.
- Support kitchen and camp cleaning duties and other camp services tasks as assigned, with a hands-on approach.

Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience in food service or remote camp, hotel, or restaurant environments.
- Knowledge of food handling safety regulations and best practices in a commercial kitchen setting.




- Valid Food Safe Level 1 certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Demonstrated baking skills and comfort working from standardized recipes and production sheets.
- Able to work independently in the early morning with limited supervision, and to stay organized under time pressure.
- Understanding of kitchen operations within the food industry or hospitality sector
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent serving skills with a positive attitude that enhances guest satisfaction

Pay: $35.00-$39.00 per hour
