Position Summary:
The Care Pastor provides vision, leadership, and pastoral oversight for Bayview Glen Church’s Care ministry, cultivating a church culture where people are spiritually nurtured, prayerfully supported, and compassionately cared for through every season of life.
This role is responsible for developing and strengthening key areas of Care Ministry, including the Community Care Team, prayer ministry, counselling pathways, and spiritual care initiatives that foster healing, discipleship, and deeper connection to Christ and His church.
Working collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers, the Care Pastor will build sustainable ministry structures, equip teams for meaningful care, and create intentional pathways that support the emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of the congregation and broader community. This role will help shape a ministry culture marked by compassion, wisdom, prayerful discernment, and Spirit-led care.

- A spiritually mature and grounded follower of Jesus with a deep personal prayer life and heart for shepherding people toward Christ-centered wholeness
- Compassionate, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to walk alongside individuals and families through seasons of crisis, grief, restoration, and spiritual growth.
- Gifted in pastoral discernment, with the ability to prayerfully assess needs and provide wise, thoughtful, and Spirit-led guidance.
- Experienced in developing, equipping, and leading volunteer teams while fostering healthy ministry culture, clear expectations, and meaningful engagement.
- Able to build and strengthen ministry structures, systems, and pathways that support sustainable and effective care ministry.
- An excellent communicator with robust interpersonal skills and the ability to connect meaningfully with people from diverse backgrounds and life stages.
- Collaborate and able to work cross-functionally with staff, ministry leaders,
and external care partners.
- Able to lead sensitive conversations with wisdom, confidentiality, grace, and appropriate pastoral boundaries.
- Adaptable, practice, and thoughtful in navigating complex pastoral and ministry situations.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong administrative and project management skills to support ministry development and execution. Familiarity with digital tools (ex. Microsoft office, Google Workspace, CRM) an asset.

Qualifications and Education
- 2+ years of experience in ministry leadership, preferably in pastoral care, prayer ministry, counselling support, spiritual formation, or congregational care.
- A degree in theology, pastoral ministry, counselling, social work, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent ministry experience and relevant training will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteer teams and ministry leaders.
- Experience building ministry systems, structures, and pathways that support effective care delivery and volunteer mobilization
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Care and Missions pastor in planning and implementing short-term and long-term strategic objectives.
- Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for Bayview Glen Church’s Care ministry, ensuring it reflects the compassion, wisdom, and love of Christ in both spiritual and practical ways.
- Collaborate with church staff, ministry leaders,
and volunteers to integrate care ministry into the broader life and discipleship of the church.
- Lead the development, structure, and implementation of the Community Care Team as a ministry of presence, compassion, and practical support within the church body and broader community.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for prayer ministry, including volunteer development, prayer initiatives, congregational prayer opportunities, and leadership training.
- Develop and maintain systems, workflows, and documentation for ongoing care ministry programs, including volunteer onboarding, communication schedules, request tracking, and follow-up procedures.
- Coordinate calendars, email communications, and templates to promote clarity, consistency, and smooth ministry operations.
- Support the onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing care of volunteers serving in care-related ministries.
- Collect and organize stories, feedback, and data to highlight ministry impact and support future planning.
- Collaborate closely with staff and leadership to ensure alignment across ministries and integration of Care into the broader life of the church.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care and outreach initiatives through feedback, data, and stories, using insights to improve programs and inform future planning.
