Total Group of Companies is currently building a talent pool of local Safety Advisors who are interested in casual, project-based work across Western Canada.

This is a great opportunity for experienced Safety Advisors who are looking for flexible, casual work and are comfortable supporting short-term projects, remote site work, and travel-based assignments.
Position Overview
Safety Advisors support field crews, contractors, and client representatives by helping maintain safe work practices, identifying hazards, supporting site safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. Work may take place in industrial, construction, restoration, turnaround, or remote project environments.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting site personnel with daily safety expectations and protected work practices
- Completing site safety observations, inspections, and hazard assessments
- Assisting with orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Monitoring work activities for compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements
- Supporting incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting processes
- Reviewing documentation such as FLHAs, permits, JHAs, and safety paperwork
- Communicating professionally with workers, supervisors, and client representatives
- Promoting a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused safety culture
Job requirements
Qualifications To be considered for future casual Safety Advisor opportunities,
candidates must hold one or more of the following designations or equivalent experience:
- NCSO
- CSO
- HSO
- HSE designation or equivalent safety background
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, HSE, CSO, HSO, or similar field safety role
- Comfortable with travel and staying in remote locations when required
- Able to work independently and communicate clearly with crews, supervisors, and clients
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and site safety processes
- Positive, professional, and team-focused attitude
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety certificate, diploma, or related safety program is considered an asset
- CRST or CRSP designation is considered a strong asset
- Additional industry-related safety training, tickets, or professional designations are considered assets, including First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and WHMIS
