CASUAL SHELTER WORKER

Job purpose: The Shelter Worker is responsible for the provision of direct services, support, and safety of residents in the shelter, as well as for support and referral services to Crisis Line and Business Line callers.

- Proficiency in compiling data and developing statistical reports.
- Solid time and task management skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and effectiveness withing a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to manage stress and remain calm in stressful and/or emotional situations.

Job Specific Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to work shiftwork.
- Physically able to stand for long periods of time, shovel snow, walk up and down stairs,



and lift at least 50 pounds.

Assets:
- Ability to speak Cree and/or Dene.
- Experience in a human service field;
- Knowledge of resources within the community & methods of access.
- Completed a Post-Secondary Education, preferably in Social Work, Human Justice, or another relevant human services field.
- First aid & CPR, Foodsafe, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, Sexual Assault First Responder, and Motivational Interviewing (1 & 2) certificates.
