Opportunity Overview
Our client, an innovative and fast-scaling organization operating at the intersection of sustainable infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the financial future of a growth-stage business with a global vision. The successful candidate will spearhead the company’s capital strategy, oversee financial operations, and provide executive-level financial leadership as the company targets a significant revenue ramp-up over the next 3–5 years.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Strategy & Fundraising
- Design and lead multi-stage capital strategies, including equity, debt, and non-dilutive funding sources
- Build and maintain investor relationships with venture firms, private equity groups, and institutional partners
- Lead capital raises from Series A and beyond, crafting investor materials, forecasts, and valuation models
- Negotiate financing terms that support both immediate growth and long-term shareholder value
Financial Planning & Strategic Growth
- Develop a scalable financial roadmap aligned with aggressive growth targets and evolving market priorities
- Lead corporate budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning to support expansion across new and existing markets
- Guide resource allocation across product, operations, and R&D; to optimize ROI and cost efficiency
Financial Oversight & Governance
- Manage all financial functions including accounting, tax, compliance, treasury, and internal controls
- Establish best-in-class financial systems and reporting tools to ensure transparency and executive readiness
- Ensure full compliance with Canadian and international financial regulations and reporting standards
Stakeholder & Investor Relations
- Act as the lead financial communicator to investors, board members, and external partners
- Provide timely, data-backed updates on performance, forecasts, and business milestones
- Shape the company’s financial narrative to inspire confidence and ongoing support from key stakeholders
Risk Management & Scenario Planning
- Identify financial risks related to currency, supply chain, and macroeconomic shifts; implement risk mitigation strategies
- Build flexible forecasting models and contingency plans to preserve operational resilience under various growth scenarios
Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team committed to operational excellence and strategic execution
- Partner with executive peers across sales, product, operations, and innovation to ensure unified business planning
M&A; and Strategic Investments
- Support growth through strategic acquisitions and partnerships where appropriate
- Lead financial due diligence,
valuation modeling, and integration efforts for M&A; activity
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years at the CFO or VP Finance level
- Demonstrated success raising significant capital ($50M+), ideally in sectors such as clean technology, manufacturing, or infrastructure
- Experience supporting high-growth, capital-intensive environments with global operations or aspirations
Technical Skills
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and capital structuring expertise
- Comfortable with up-to-date financial platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and reporting tools
- Deep understanding of global finance, tax optimization, and funding incentives
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
- CPA, CFA, or MBA credentials strongly preferred
