Qualifications and Requirements: Completion of an accredited/recognized diploma or degree program in the respective discipline of Nursing (RN), Paramedicine (ACP), or Respiratory Therapy
2 years’ experience as an RN or RRT in either an Adult Emergency/Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU); or 2 years overall experience practicing at the Advanced Care Paramedic level
Current registration in good standing with their home Province/Territory, and the ability to attain and maintain registration with the College of Registered Nurses Manitoba (CRNM); College of Paramedics MB (CPMB) or Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT)
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification considered an asset
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification considered an asset
Current Trauma Course (PHTLS or ITLS) certification is considered an asset
Indigenous cultural awareness training is considered an asset
Proof of current required vaccinations as per company policy
Air Medical Crew (AMC) Candidates must successfully:
Complete the company provided aeromedical training (CAMATA Level 1)
Provide proof of a Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry
Ability to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
Possess and Maintain a Valid Driver’s License Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Provide direction and leadership, to all medical personnel in partnership with Medical Managers and Online medical control (OLMC)
Triaging and prioritizing patient transport needs
Work collaboratively with flight operations team to pair aircraft asset with most appropriate medical crew for patient transport
Delegate tasks to front line medical staff for productive use of duty days
Attend daily operational meetings to maintain open communication and collaboration within the Operational Control department
Liaise and facilitate patient conference calls with Online Medical Control and all stakeholders
Be well versed in the electronic patient care record software to assist front line staff
Maintain regulatory compliance of contractual medevac operations
Ensure that Health and Safety rules are adhered to in the workplace
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Perform training needs analysis through chart review to identify learning requirements in discussion with the appropriate personnel, including education team
Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by monitoring confidential personal health information processing
Ensure that all incident reports, patient complaints and unusual incidents are reported, working in collaboration with Supervisors, Managers and Director of Medical and company SMS program.
Travel to other KAL operated regions may be required
Protect patients and employees by interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
Work with Medical Managers as required:
Maintain schedule and backfill AMC personnel
Coordinate with Medical Directors to ensure timely submission of OLMC (On-Line Medical Control) schedule
Prepare and organize monthly reports, stats, complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required
Manage the medevac operation within parameters of defined budget
Perform all other duties as assigned by Director and VP of Medical Skills and Competencies: Superior customer relations and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and driven
Highly flexible with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and provide sound judgement
Effective listening and communication skills with all levels of the organization
Strong customer service experience considered an asset
Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility, with demonstrated interpersonal skills allowing one to adapt to a fast-paced working environment
Effective and efficient multitask abilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy is imperative Working Conditions: This role is primarily office-based within a fast-paced operations center, with frequent communication across departments including medical, flight operations, and dispatch.
Occasional travel to other Keewatin Air-operated regions may be required for training, operational support, or team collaboration.
The role involves extended periods of computer use and phone communication. While not physically strenuous, the position requires sustained attention, focus, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
High levels of concentration and emotional resilience are necessary due to the nature of medical triage and coordination. The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure is critical.
Adherence to infection control protocols, confidentiality standards, and workplace safety regulations is mandatory. The coordinator plays a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety policies across operations.
Rotation Schedule: The hours are 12-hour shifts. Days and nights 7 days/week.
