GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:Duties include inspection of aerospace precision sheet metal and machining details, assemblies and special processes.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:This position will require working in a team environment with machinists, inspectors, and managers to reduce cost and lead-time by establishing CMM programs that will decrease inspection time and provide accurate measurement results as feedback during the first article process, final AQL inspection, and support of lean manufacturingWhen not programming the CMM this position will require other miscellaneous quality assurance activities such as supporting final inspection, training junior inspectors/programmers etc.Program complex parts using CMM with COSMOS softwareEstablish CMM program controls, setup sheets, tooling control, file securityProvide assistance to inspectors using the programmable CMM as necessaryInspection products using CMM in accordance with our quality system proceduresSupport final inspection with AS9011 reports and or CMM inspectionsProvide customer support when necessaryPerform inspection of precision parts and assemblies to customer drawings and specifications (using tools such as calipers, height gauges, plug gauges, CMM’s,
micrometers)Generate First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102Document/discuss unacceptable or inferior quality materials with internal and external parties and take corrective actionInternal auditing of control plans and process conformanceParticipate in Kaizen events & 5S initiativesAll other duties as assigned*DIMENSIONS:Post-secondary education in a related field. Certificate in Quality Assurance/Quality Technician preferred;2+ years comprehensive CMM experience, within the aerospace industry considered an asset;Technical training and proficient with PCDMIS and COSMOS CMM software;Proficient at establishing clear, complete and exact records of inspection;Ability to read blueprint drawings and specifications;Adequate working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;ISO 9001 or AS9100 experience;Well versed in Geometric TolerancesCOMPETENCIES:Team workCommunicationInterpersonal SkillsProblem SolvingSelf directedFast pacedAttention to detailTime ManagementWORKING CONDITIONSPhysical:Work is normally performed in a manufacturing environmentFrequently required to stand; walk; use hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouchFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 poundsCorrected hearing and vision to normal rangeUse of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers and fax machinesAbility to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety shoes, safety goggles, ear plugs, fitted dust mask, etc. as requiredMental:Must be able to take on new assignments as requiredMust work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely mannerMust be able to handle various personnel and other situations as they arise in a professional manner
