Position Summary The Part time Cook is responsible for preparing high‑quality meals in a rapid‑paced kitchen environment while maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role ensures that all menu items are prepared according to company standards, supports kitchen operations, and contributes to a positive guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
- Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency meet company standards.
- Set up and stock workstations with necessary ingredients, equipment, and utensils.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (ovens, grills, fryers, knives, etc.).

Food Safety & Cleanliness

- Follow all food safety regulations, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation throughout shifts.
- Adhere to health and safety policies, including safe food handling procedures.
- Perform cleaning duties such as dishwashing, sweeping,



and equipment cleaning as needed.

Teamwork & Communication

- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Communicate any shortages, issues, or concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Support training of new kitchen team members when required.

Operational Excellence

- Follow portion control, waste reduction, and cost‑management practices.
- Assist with inventory rotation and receiving deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent. Cook/ Culinary program certificate is an asset.
- 1–2 years of cooking or kitchen experience in a health care setting preferred
- Food Handler Certification or equivalent.

Skills & Abilities

- Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen safety, and sanitation.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Good time‑management skills; able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.

Physical Requirements

- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Comfortable working around heat, sharp objects, and kitchen equipment.
