Position Summary:

This role works directly with the Executive Pastor and other Department Heads to implement the church’s mission and vision. They are responsible for managing ministries directly related to Discipleship, namely Groups, Family Ministry, and Connect Teams.

The Groups Pastor will oversee the development, implementation, and growth of the Life Groups ministry and related discipleship pathways within the church community. This role involves providing leadership, support, and pastoral care to Life Group coaches, leaders and members, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth within the Life Group setting.

Candidate Profile:

Skills and Capabilities:

- A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through a commitment to spiritual disciplines, prayer, and biblical study.

- A bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field is preferred.

- Previous experience in pastoral ministry, discipleship, or small group leadership.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower others.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Organizational and administrative abilities to effectively manage and coordinate multiple aspects of the life groups ministry.

- A passion for fostering community, discipleship, and spiritual growth within the church body.

- Availability for occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Qualifications and Education:

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable Bible College or Christian University.

- Minimum 2 years of ministry experience with groups and overseeing members of a church staff.

- Team building and leading experience

Primary Responsibilities:





Discipleship Department Head Roles Specific Responsibilities:

- Team Management

- Leads and cares for the Discipleship staff team leaders through regular interactions, coaching, training, shepherding, empowering, and accountability

- Approves and assists in new staff positions and changes

- Coordinates people and resources for all strategic and/or multi-departmental and/or campus-wide initiatives and projects.

- Communication

- Ensures effective processes for ministry planning and internal communications with staff and Department Heads

- Provides support and assistance to the Elders as needed or requested

- Resourcing Vision

- Partner with the Department Head Team in developing, clarifying, and implementing church-wide vision, mission, and goals.

- Defines and measures Key Performance Indicators and drives results in operations and growth initiatives.

Life Group & ESL Fellowship Specific Responsibilities:

- Leadership Development:

- Recruit, train, and empower leaders within the Life Group ecosystem (Lead Team, Coaches and Life Group leaders) to effectively lead and disciple those within their care.

- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship to Life Group and ESL Fellowship Coaches and leaders, equipping them with the tools needed for effective group leadership.

- Work on implementing the Multi-Layered Leadership Structure.

- Program Development:

- Collaborate with related staff to develop and implement strategies for the growth and sustainability of the ESL Fellowships & Life Groups ecosystem.

- Ensure the mission of the ESL Fellowships of integration into SERVE teams and Life Groups is accomplished.

- Collaborate with staff and Life Group Leadership Team to develop and implement regular Life Group programming, including Life Group Launches, Life Group Leadership Launches, Coaches Trainings, and a Life Group Retreat.





- Collaborate with the Life Group’s Teaching Team to create engaging and relevant curriculum or discussion materials for life group gatherings that are biblically based and align with the church's vision and values.

- Collaborate with other church leaders to integrate life groups into the church's overall discipleship strategy.

- Member Care:

- Provide pastoral care and support to Life Group coaches, leaders and members, fostering an environment of authenticity, vulnerability, and mutual encouragement.

- Address any conflicts or concerns within ESL Fellowships and Life Groups with wisdom, grace, and a commitment to reconciliation.

- Community Building:

- Foster a sense of belonging and community among participants through intentional relationship-building, pastoral care, and discipleship.

- Communication and Administration:

- Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Life Group Administrative Team to ensure successful onboarding and management of Life Group Leaders and Members.

- Maintain accurate records of Life Group and ESL Fellowship participation and engagement for reporting and evaluation purposes.

- Work closely with the church staff and leadership team to ensure alignment with the church's overall mission and vision.

- Manage related budgets, including but not limited to resourcing, Leadership Development, and Care within the Life Group and ESL Fellowship ministry.
